Welcome to PhotoGuru uk I am Stephen Shepherd professional photographer and creative. Over the years I have worked in many areas of the photographic business not least (and currently) for the national press in the Uk consumer and business magazines and many other publications.
I am now bring my experience and knowledge to PhotoGuru UK, a place for you to learn more about all aspects of photography.
My life as a photographer started out on Fleet St (not literally as most of the papers had moved out by the time I got to London) where I spent the first 9 years working for The Daily Telegraph undertaking commissions for the features and editorial desk.
These jobs saw me shooting everything from racing at Silverstone to celebrity portraits that included George Harrison, John Lydon, Barbara Cartland, Les Dawson, John Pertwee, Barry Manilow, Prince, Jackie Collins and many many more as well as politics portraits, business leaders and authors.
This press photography was of centred around providing interesting photography for the papers feature articles. I travelled from France, Greece and Spain to South East Asia, the USA and of course most of the UK.
This work allowed me to develop my style which is editorially based shooting images for the main paper the weekend paper and the magazine. The weekend sections included the arts, motoring, lifestyle, entertainment etc.
Besides this I also have considerable experience working with clients in marketing, business & corporate photography, education, construction and industry.
Therefore over the years I have shot marketing campaigns for Orange, The Alliance & Leicester, The RNiB, Construction Skills and Thames Water to name but a few.
A lot of these commissions were again based on my editorial style, capturing real people in real life scenarios for that natural look.
