Street photography is an incredibly rewarding genre of photography.

Sometimes just sitting still and photographing the world passing by just works.

At other times you might be wandering the streets looking for subjects.

In all cases natural real life images are the key to good street photography.

As a professional street photographer you have to be on the look out all the time.

A set of images can be achieved over a sort period of time, 30 minutes in a petrol station, 2 hours in a park.

Often projects take longer. the street photographer may have many projects on the go at the same time.

Once you start "Seeing" images you will gather together sets.

For example on a day out shooting people with hats, it may be you shoot some people with dogs.

Now you have another project of street dogs running simultaneously with other work.

Most importantly is observation.

Besides knowing what you want in the photograph you have to anticipate peoples actions.

Street photography is quite possibly one of the most challenging aspects to a photographers work, but at the same time it can be one of the most rewarding aspects of reportage and documentary photography.

Documenting people in their everyday environment is not easy, it requires patience, hard work and sometimes even some bravery to be able to approach and photograph complete strangers.

lets assume you walk out with a camera with no agenda for the day how do you know what to shoot. In the words of the great street and reportage photographer Jeff Jacobson

..." I never start off with an idea in mind, I start taking pictures and the pictures tell me what it is"...

With this in mind all kinds of stories and scenarios can unfold in front of you.
